MEET PETE, WATER SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN
Meet Pete Cates. He’s Wekid Manufacturing’s Water Systems Technician. You can’t see what Pete builds, but without those water management and water treatment systems, our parks don’t run.
Pete joined MAKR in 2019. Before that, he was an electrician, and hotel owner, and held the title of Propane Pete, when he delivered fuel to mountain lodges throughout Banff National Park and Kananaskis in Alberta.
Pete has worked and played in the mountains his whole life. He was born in Jasper and grew up in Banff, and now calls Kelowna home. Skiing, running, playing hockey, golfing, and completing marathons, including qualifying for Boston, are how he likes to play outside of work.
A proud father of three (he even has a tattoo of his children’s birthplace GPS coordinates), Pete has passed his athletic genes to his daughters and son. He sometimes gets to parent at work, as his son Nic works part-time alongside Dad in our Operations group.
Pete says it’s the community at MAKR that keeps him coming back every day.
